Terrill J. Dick has been in school, church, and community choirs his entire life. He met his wife, Kari, in the institute choir at Dixie College, and they have both been in the St. George Chamber Singers since its inception. TJ received his BA in choir education at BYU and taught in Wyoming, where his choir received many honors and he was elected to be the state’s American Choral Directors’ Association President. Turning to his passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ, TJ became an LDS seminary teacher and received an MA in education from USU. TJ and Kari have five children.
David Grygla began his musical journey with a beautiful boy soprano voice, later playing the euphonium through college before dedicating himself to singing. He performed in choirs at Ricks College and BYU and appeared in musicals such as Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music and Potiphar in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. A devoted father of six and fortunate husband to Julie, who is also a member of the Saint George Chamber Singers, David balances his career as a hospitalist with his passion for making beautiful music.
Roger Hale, Assistant Conductor and section leader, joined the faculty at Utah Tech University in August of 2014. He received a Bachelor of Music Education and Masters of Choral Conducting from the University of Utah, and a PhD in Choral Music Education and Conducting from Florida State University. Dr. Hale studied with John Cooksey, André Thomas, Kevin Fenton, and Clifford Madsen and is Director of Choral Activities at UT, where he conducts the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Women’s Chorus. He is a sought-after clinician and guest conductor. His singing instruction videos have been viewed over six million times by his more than 133k subscribers. He enjoys living in the St. George area with his wife, KayDe, and their five children.
Bryndon Hatch participated in choir and musicals in his youth and sang with Brady Allred in the University of Utah Singers when they won the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing in 2006. He received a minor in vocal performance from the University of Utah and met his wife, Ann, through choir. They love singing together—both in the St. George Chamber Singers and for other opportunities, especially when their four children are included. Bryndon became a physician, training at the University of Utah and the Mayo Clinic, before coming to St. George to work at Intermountain Health, where he is now a specialist in neurologic rehabilitation.
Marshall McKonkie is thrilled to be a part of the St. George Chamber Singers. He has loved music his entire life, singing along to every song from a young age and playing the piano from the age of five. He’s performed in a number of musical theater productions in the St. George area, and he currently serves as choir conductor at the St. George Institute of Religion.
